Please find below a letter from the Leading Veterinary Scientist Professor Clare Knottenbelt.

Dear Pet Owner

The University of Glasgow is conducting an online survey to investigate the personal attitudes of pet owners towards passive smoking in pets.  We also aim to identify whether veterinary surgeons should have a role in addressing the issue of passive smoking in pets.

Participation is voluntary. If you agree to participate you will be required to complete the enclosed questionnaire as honestly and accurately as possible. Once you have submitted the questionnaire electronically you have submitted your answers and will not be contacted again. By completing and returning the questionnaire you are consenting to the inclusion of your answers in the study. After completing the questionnaire, you remain free to withdraw at any time, without reason, prior to submitting your questionnaire.

Only one survey should be submitted per household unless there are multiple pets with different owners residing in one household.

You can access the survey at

If you would like to hear the results of this survey please ensure you provide an email address when prompted to allow us to contact you.
